For those of you who
do not know this
about my roving….
I card my orders as
they come in. Now of
course with the Spin
a Long Fiber I have
some of it carded in
advance since I know
it is going to be
leaving the studio.
But waiting to card
the roving until it is
ordered ensures that
you are getting “fresh
and fluffy” roving to
spin. It is partially an
eye appeal thing but
carding also opens
and fluffs the fibers so
that it is easier to
draft. Some times
drafting isn’t even
necessary. I usually
don’t draft when I
spin the Custom
Blends. This also
allows me to have the
solid colors that are
in the blend sit on the
shelf and be available
of another colorway if
need be. Sometimes
there is a colorway
that is not a very
good seller and it
would be a waste of
roving to have them
sit on the shelf and
not ship out. So
waiting to card is a
win win situation for
both my customers
and me. Although,
there are the times
when I get a large
number of orders and
feel like I will never
get away from the
carder. But that’s a
good feeling too. :O)
